Residents seek amenities in layout

Special Correspondent

GULBARGA: Residents of the New Ghatge Layout in Gulbarga city on Saturday laid siege to the administrative office of the Gulbarga City Corporation demanding drinking water, internal roads and drainage facility in their layout.

Slogans

The residents, including many women, who came in a procession under the banner of the Bhimashakthi Yuvaka Sangha to the administrative office of the City Corporation squatted in front of the main entrance gate.

Then they shouted slogans against the corporation authorities for not attending to their demands for basic amenities.

Appeals in vain

They said that on two earlier occasions they had met the City Corporation Commissioner and submitted memoranda listing out their demands, but those were not met.

Later, they presented a memorandum to the Headquarters Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner Ravikiran Vanti and called off their stir after getting an assurance from officials that their demands would be met at the earliest.
