"Police not registering complaints"

Special Correspondent

`There is an increase in cases of motorcycle theft"

Puducherry: Member, National Council of the Communist Party of India (CPI) R. Viswanathan MLA expressed his anguish over the police `not registering' complaints of theft of properties and other offences in the Union Territory.

Addressing presspersons here recently, Mr. Viswanathan said that there was an increasing instance in thefts of motorcycles here for some time now.

When vehicle owners approached police to file complaints and for getting FIRs, they were turned away for untenable reasons.

He said it gave the impression that the Government wanted to project a picture that Puducherry had lesser number of crimes.
