Probe into Afghan civilian casualties

KABUL: The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and the Afghanistan Government have initiated a joint investigation into the reported killing of 90 civilians by the Western military alliance in Kandahar province, a press release of the multi-nation force said on Saturday.

``ISAF and the Afghan Ministry of Defence are conducting a joint investigation into the incident on 24 October in Panjwai district of Kandahar province in which a number of civilians were killed along with a large number of insurgents,'' the press release said. — Xinhua
