MYSORE: Four special teams constituted by the city police have left Mysore for different parts of the country to collect evidence against two Pakistani nationals suspected to be members of Al-Badr outfit, who were arrested here on Friday.

Mohammad Fahad and Mohammad Ali Hussain, suspected militants, were arrested here after a shootout. They have been remanded to police custody for 14 days. The police, who seized a satellite telephone, SIM cards, chemicals used in explosives, computer and ammunition, have traced the numbers to which the calls were made and have got leads to Jammu and Kashmir, Kozhikode, Pakistan and other places. Commissioner of Police Praveen Sood told The Hindu that a special squad led by CCB Inspector Ramamurthy had left for Kozhikode to collect evidence against Fahad who had visited that place. The police wanted to collect additional information and material evidence about his contacts and the activities he undertook there. Special teams will visit Srinagar, Delhi, Kolkatta and Chennai in addition to a few other places to which Fahad had made calls frequently.

Meanwhile, the city police visited the Mysore City Corporation office on Saturday to ascertain how birth certificate was issued to Fahad to help him establish an Indian identity. Mr. Sood said, "We will examine whether it was for a monetary consideration or if there was a collusion with Fahad, who was travelling on a Pakistani passport with an official Indian visa stamped on it, but had overstayed in the country."
