Belgaum: The Khanapur police finally registered cases against Ramdas Kadam, Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, and Nitin B. Patil on Friday night. Various Kannada organisations led by the Belgaum District Kannada Organisations' Action Committee had urged the State Government to take steps to arrest Mr. Kadam and Mr. Patil for their alleged provocative speeches resulting in violence during the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samithi sponsored "Yuva Melava" at Khanapur on Thursday. The police told The Hindu on Saturday that they had taken up investigation after going through audio and video recordings of the speeches delivered by the two leaders.
