Call to abide by `creamy layer' ruling

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Other Castes Welfare Association, the organisation which claims to fight for the cause of poor among the forward castes, has asked the political parties and caste organisations to abide by the Supreme Court's judgment on `creamy layer' among the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Describing the judgment as "historic", the association president G. Karunakar Reddy told reporters on Saturday that the apex court's verdict would pave way for extending benefits to genuinely deserving SCs and STs.

It was unfortunate that political parties were raising objections to it.
