Top stars for chess tournament

HYDERABAD : Top rung players such as Swati Ghate, Abhijit Gupta, Sudhakar Babu, Konguvel, P.D.S. Girinath and R.R. Laxman among others are likely to take part in the Golwalkar Guruji birth centenary open international chess tournament at the Tarun Bharat stadium, Sangli, Maharashtra from November 12 to 18.

Addressing a press conference here, Bhau Padsalgikar, President, Nutan Buddhibal Mandal (NBM), organisers of the event, said the event carried total prize money of Rs. 2 lakh and offered free entry to players having ELO rating in excess of 2400. — Special Correspondent
