Cavalry Red triumphs
A five-goal effort by Gerardo Mazzini proved inadequate as Cavalry Red beat Majaara 8-5 in the final of the Samaira Cup polo tournament at the Jaipur Polo ground here on Saturday. Santiago de Estrada (4), Tunku Ismail Ibrahim (3) and Vishal Chauhan were the marksmen for Cavalry Red, that got off to a whirlwind start by scoring seven goals in the first two .
DDA Academy reigns
DDA Academy asserted its class as it outplayed Laxman Public School 5-0 after leading 4-0 at halftime in the final of the ONGC Golden Jubilee Cup Hind Kishore football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Saturday. Gagan Chauhan scored the first and last goals while John Mao, Raghav Khurana and Kushagra Rastogi helped themselves to a goal each. Sanskriti School was awarded the fairplay trophy. The prizes were presented by the DSA president Subhash Chopra.
Sumit to lead North
Sumit Sharma of Punjab will lead a 15-member North Zone team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy under-19 one-day cricket tournament to be held in Mumbai in January 2007. The team: Sumit Sharma (capt.), Sunny Sohal, Gaurav Chhabra, Sarabjeet Singh, Ishant Sharma, Amanpreet Singh, Virat Kohli, Pradeep Sangwan, Ian Dev Singh Chauhan, Nitin Saini, Sumit Kalia, Yogesh Nagar, Prem Prateek, Varun Sharma and Tejasvi Yadav.
