Blast kills three in Sonitpur district

Guwahati: Three persons were killed and 15 others injured, including two CRPF personnel, when a powerful explosive device went off in Dhekiauli town of Sonitpur district on Friday.

Sonitpur District Superintendent of police Apurba Jibon Barua told The Hindu over phone that the blast occurred near Krishnai Hotel around 5:45 p.m. in the heart of Dhekiajuli town.

Three of the seriously wounded have been rushed to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, he added.

The police were yet to ascertain as to which militant outfit was behind the blast.

They, however, suspected that the explosive device was kept on a cycle, he said.
