2 Maoists surrender

Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR: A squad area committee (SAC) member and an LGS deputy commander of Maoists surrendered before the Superintendent of Police, D.S. Chauhan here on Saturday. Disillusionment with the ideology and ill health were cited to be the reason for this step.

The SAC member, Bandi Hema, wife of Bandi Prakash, the secretary of Sikasa, a Maoists frontal organisation, had gone underground along with her husband after peace talks began. She was involved in two exchanges of fire with the police in Adilabad district.

Eturunagaram LGS deputy commander, Kalva Sampath, a native of Peddapalli mandal joined the Maoists during the peace talks. He was involved in the killing of a person in Eturunagaram police station limits.

Girl abducted

Speaking on the occasion, the SP flayed the naxalites for abducting a minor girl, G. Radha, from Machupeta village of Manthani Mutharam mandal in the district. He demanded the immiediate release of the girl and warned the Maoists of public wrath.
