NEW DELHI: The Additional Director-General (ADG) of the Himachal Pradesh police, G. S. Thind, was on Saturday remanded to 15 days' judicial custody for allegedly obtaining loans amounting to Rs.3.55 crores by submitting forged documents and misrepresenting facts. The Chandigarh branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation had arrested the ADG, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre 1974 batch, on Friday, according to a CBI release here on Saturday. According to the CBI, investigations had revealed that the senior police officer took a loan of Rs.10 lakhs from the State Bank of India's Panchkula branch in Haryana and housing loans of Rs.3.45 crores from various banks by misrepresenting facts and submitting forged documents. The police officer had taken four housing loans from different banks against a piece of land at Shalimar Enclave in Punjab and pledged the same with the banks in a fraudulent manner, the CBI alleged. He had prepared multiple title deeds for the above-mentioned piece of land and pledged it through the general power of attorney in favour of directors/partners of Shalimar Land Projects Limited, the CBI added. Besides, the accused police officer had taken 11 housing loans from different banks for construction of houses on plots B-22, B-23 and B-24 in the same colony by submitting forged salary certificates , the CBI alleged. The ADG was produced in a court at Patiala in Punjab that later remanded him to 15 days' judicial custody.
