Staff Reporter

To raise funds for underprivileged children in India

CHENNAI: On Sunday, a 50-strong group of runners will participate in a marathon to be held at Silicon Valley in the United States to raise funds to help underprivileged children in India.

Quite a few of the runners, including first time marathon runners, are from Chennai, say members of the Asha Team (www.teamasha.org and www.ashanet.org) of the marathon.

The Silicon Valley marathon (www.svmarathon.com) is being held to highlight Silicon Valley's diverse cultural community, beautiful landscapes, and worthy charitable causes.

By contributing an hour for the event, the marathon runners participating in the event will also contribute one hour's worth of their pay.

All the members of Asha team hope to raise Rs.2,100 each for this marathon.

More information on what other projects are being funded can be accessed through the website of Team Asha.
