HYDERABAD: The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) authorities clarified that the issue that came up for discussion in the recent general body was why Laxmi Nagar Sports Complex proposal was directly taken up in the general body meeting without due reference from the standing committee. A release from MCH said that any proposed work costing above Rs. 50 lakhs would be mooted by the branch concerned, then sent for Municipal Commissioner's approval. It would be then placed before the standing committee and only after its approval, would it be placed before the general body. With due approval of the general body, a resolution would be sent to the Government for administrative sanction. The authorities clarified that the sports complex proposal was taken up directly as a table agenda item by the general body meeting held on July 7 without reference from the standing committee to save on time and a resolution (No.189) was passed on the same day. Later, it was sent to the Government and the GO was issued on September 20. The issue was raised in the recent general body meeting held on October 16 and members questioned why the normal procedure was not followed. "There is no question of hiding facts," the release added. But the fact as pointed out by the Mayor remains that though the GO was issued on September 20, the members who attended the general body meeting on October 16 were not aware of the GO issuance as they were not informed about it.
