HYDERABAD: Heavy vehicles crushed four persons to death in three separate accidents on the city roads on Friday. Two persons standing behind a stationary lorry, which was first hit by an auto-rickshaw, were killed when a tipper too rammed into them near Puranapool graveyard in the early hours of Friday. The lorry laden with onions was coming into the city from Nehru Zoological Park side and broke down on the main road around 2.30 a.m. A three-wheeler hit the lorry from behind since it was pitch dark then, the Bahadurpura Sub-Inspector A. Sudarshan said. Passers-by moved the auto-rickshaw to a side. "It is not yet known if the two victims stopped by to see the accident or helped in shifting the three-wheeler," the Sub-Inspector said. The cleaner of the lorry told police that he was sitting inside the cabin when he heard a huge thud followed by cries for help. He got down only to see two men crushed to death under the tipper's front wheels. The victims were identified as Mohd. Yousuf Khan, 30, a tailor of Kalapather and Nagesh, 30, a labourer of Bahadurpura.
Youth hit
A helmet-wearing youngster was killed after a DCM van hit the motorcycle he was riding at Tilaknagar. The victim G. Rohit Kumar, 22, is a final year engineering student of Muffakamjah college. A woman Afzal Bee, 65, died when an RTC bus of Rajendranagar depot hit her at Lakdikapool bus stop. The woman was waiting to catch a bus to reach First Lancer area when the bus hit her from behind. She was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital where she succumbed to injuries, the Saifabad police said.
