Minor fire at McDonald's outlet
Though no injuries were reported, raw material including food particles, vegetables and other cooking material was destroyed in the fire that broke out in a storeroom. According to the Fire Department, four fire tenders were rushed to the fast food outlet after a Police Control Room received a call about smoke billowing out of the restaurant at about 10-30 a.m. Fire fighter had a tough time identifying the exact spot as the building did not have a proper approach. "At least five fire fighters wearing oxygen masks entered the smoke-filled restaurant and located the source of the fire in a storeroom used to stack raw material to make burgers", said a fire official. In a statement in the evening, McDonald's said that "all occupants at the fast food outlet were safely evacuated''.
Gang engaged in stealing goods busted
The police have arrested the accused and claim to have recovered 40 tin boxes of "Gatta Petti' and protein supplement powder valued at about Rs. 12.5 lakhs from him. According to the police, the accused was arrested after the police, working on a tip-off, conducted a raid at the basement of Gufawala Mandir in West Sagarpur, Delhi, recently. They recovered 240 cartons of protein supplement. The premises was rented by Kailash Kumar who posed as proprietor of a private establishment -- K K Trading Company. The accused is a native of Bihar now living in Badarpur village.
Special court in Tihar jail
Metropolitan Magistrate Lokesh Kumar Sharma disposed of the cases when the under-trials confessed to their respective offences, a Tihar Jail release said. The Magistrate took up a total of 56 cases for hearing but reverted 15 out of it to regular courts on conclusion of the hearing. The cases disposed of by the special court were transferred to it after their screening by the Finger Prints Bureau of the Delhi police to keep the habitual offenders out of it.
New grocery store for Jamia
Jamia Vice-Chancellor Mushirul Hasan inaugurated the new store in the presence of Kendriya Bhandar Chairman S. P. Tyagi and Managing Director Jagdeesh Bhatia.
