Madras City has been experiencing severe monsoonish weather since October 28 afternoon. There has been intermittent heavy rain both on October 28 and October 29. For the 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on October 29 the Meenambakkam and Nungambakkam Observatories both recorded a rainfall of 1.24 inches.
