MALAPPURAM: Thrikkadeeri Vasudevan Namboothiri, 81, painter and freedom fighter, died in his house at Karuvarakkundu in the district on Saturday. Namboothiri had learned painting from the Madras School of Arts, under the renowned artist K.C.S. Panicker. He was closely associated with the Cholamandalam Artist Village of Chennai. He started Automobile, the first automobile magazine in Malayalam, in the 1960s. He was also a farmer known for synthesising conventional and scientific methods. Namboothiri is survived by three children.
