NEW DELHI: A delegation of leaders of Uma Bharti-led Bharatiya Jan Sakthi (BJS) called on the Election Commission here on Sunday and sought the postponement of the by-election to the Bada Malehra assembly constituency in Madhya Pradesh. The constituency is going to the polls on October 30. Saying that it feared rigging by the State Bharatiya Janata Party Government, it asked the Commission to postpone the elections by a week so that the `anti-social' elements `brought in' by the ruling party for `bogus voting' could be weeded out. It complained that the district administration and the police refused to even take cognisance of the attack on Ms. Bharti on Friday. The delegation alleged that her security was withdrawn though she came under the `z' category. It wanted the Superintendent of Police, District Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Magistrate suspended. The Commission could take direct charge of the poll through its observers and depute security personnel from outside the State to ensure free and fair elections, it said.
