Atwal attending world parliamentary meet

The theme is ``dialogue, tolerance and freedom of expression as the cornerstone of democracy.''

NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal is attending a Parliamentary Forum on the occasion of the 6th International Conference for New or Restored Democracies being held in Doha, Qatar, from October 29 to November 1.

The forum is being organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in cooperation with the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Advisory Council of Qatar.

The theme is ``Dialogue, tolerance and freedom of expression as the cornerstone of democracy.''

The forum provides an opportunity for the exchange of information and experience on the progress achieved during the past three years by countries with new or restored democracies, and for deepening interactive dialogue on democracy among the representatives of Government, Parliament and civil society organisations, a Lok Sabha Secretariat release said.
