Chief Minister announces Rs. 1600-crore development fund for the constituency

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Saturday announced a Rs.1,600-crore package for the development of Sohna constituency. He said this was the largest ever development package for any Assembly constituency across the country. Addressing a well-attended public rally at Sohna, Mr. Hooda asserted that he had promised development of the constituency when he visited Sohna as President of the Haryana unit of the Congress a few years ago. He announced that the drive to recruit 12,000 teachers in the State would commence soon. Also, recruitment in the police would be completed soon. Mr.Hooda made it clear that no corruption would be tolerated and 33 per cent seats would be reserved for women. The Chief Minister cautioned the youth that the Government could not give employment to one and all on its own. "Everyone cannot get a government job or survive on the agricultural land alone. Therefore, investment is necessary as industry provides employment and climate of investment also benefits small entrepreneurs,'' he added. He asserted that unless there was a three-pronged strategy, that is more power, water and better law and order, the State could not march on the path of development. Stating that Haryana at present gets 4,000 mega watt of power supply, of which its own production is only 2,000 MW, Mr.Hooda promised that very soon the State would produce an additional power of 5,000 MW. "Unlike my predecessors, I do not promise 24 hours supply daily free of cost, but what we are going to achieve is 20 to 22 hours of power supply in every village,'' he added. He inaugurated a 30-bed hospital and assured grant to convert it into a 50-bed hospital.
