Delhi Speaker reviews preparations

10-day Budget session of Delhi Assembly begins today


  • Restricts entry of visitors to the House
  • Secretariat asked to cancel all Assembly parking labels

    NEW DELHI: Delhi Speaker Prem Singh on Sunday reviewed the preparedness and arrangements of Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat for the ensuring Ninth Session of Delhi assembly that is due to start from Monday.

    Tight security

    The Speaker inspected the arrangement in the House as well as the entire upkeep of the Secretariat in all respects. He also instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sunil Garg and Additional DCP Atul Katiyar for deployment of security officers to ensure proper security for the ensuing session.

    The Speaker has restricted the entry of visitors in the L.G. Gallery of House and instructed the officers to ensure that no pass for this gallery is issued without his prior approval. However, he has clarified that visitors can seek prior approval from him well before three hours of commencement of the Assembly Session if they want to witness the proceedings of the House.

    Chaudhury Prem Singh has also instructed the Assembly Secretariat to withdraw and cancel all the Assembly parking labels issued for parking purposes keeping in view the security. He has instructed that the parking labels issued for the vehicles of Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Chief Minister, Ministers of Delhi Government, Leader of Opposition, Members of Parliament, all Members of Legislative Assembly, Member of Bureau of Legislative Studies, Head of Departments and officers of Delhi Government and press and media should however be treated as valid and their vehicles be allowed entry in the Assembly Secretariat premises.

    No other vehicles will be allowed entry in the Assembly Secretariat premises and visitors will be required to park their vehicles in the parking space earmarked opposite the Reception house. Visitors will be required to contact the Ministers, MLAs or officers whom they want to meet on phone from Reception and only after confirmation from the authorities will they be allowed entry into the Assembly Secretariat premises.
