Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended on October 31 at Muthialpet, JJ Nagar West, Koyambedu, Dasarathapuram, Velachery, Guindy, Ambattur and Vallalar Nagar between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work. Supply will be resumed before 5 p.m. if the work is completed.

Management techniques

Workshop

A workshop on `Improving English Skills' was organised by The Stenographers' Guild and the Institute for Languages and Skills recently. Around 100 teachers from the city schools and colleges participated.

Rotary gift

Members of the Rotary Club of Madras Fort gifted cardiac care equipment, worth Rs.8.62 lakh to B.P. Jain Hospital to strengthen the ICCU and surgical facility, in a function held at Pammal recently. Rotarian Mohan P. George, assistant governor (region 4), Rotary International District 3230 lauded the efforts of the club and handed over the equipment.

Woman dies of burns

A 33-year-old woman died in the Kilpauk Medical College hospital on Sunday after she suffered severe burns. Police said the victim Mangayarkarasi, residing in Bajanai Koil Street was a security staffer in a city shopping mall.

Her husband Murugan (36) was also working as a security guard in a private company. It is reported that frequent domestic problems between the couple resulted in Murugan setting his wife on fire. Soolaimedu police have registered a case, and are investigating.
