PCG ready for fresh peace talks

Sushanta Talukdar

But Centre has to commit itself formally

Guwahati: The People's Consultative Group (PCG), appointed by the United Liberation Front of Asom, has decided to respond to fresh peace initiatives by the Centre to break the impasse, provided New Delhi sends a formal communiqué in this regard. The PCG, which met here on Saturday night, decided that it would respond positively if the Centre intimates any decision to resume parleys with it towards opening direct dialogue with the ULFA.

PCG spokesman Lachit Bordoloi told The Hindu on Sunday that since the ULFA has said it is ready for talks only if the proposal comes through the PCG, the group felt they should respond to the Centre's fresh initiative.
