MUMBAI: Pramod Mahajan's daughter Poonam Mahajan Rao on Monday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Pramod Mahajan was shot by his brother Praveen on April 22 and he died of his injuries on May 3. Monday was his birth anniversary.

Maharashtra BJP leader and Ms. Poonam's uncle Gopinath Munde and State BJP president Nitin Gadkari said she had not been offered any party post. Therefore, it did not amount to any undue favouritism.

Ms. Poonam said she was joining as an ordinary member to fulfil her father's dreams. She was interested in working in areas related to women, education and youth.

PTI reports:

Ms. Poonam 's brother Rahul Mahajan said: ``I wish her all the best. We are one; it does not make a difference who joins the party, she or me. The BJP is in our blood and I would continue to work for it.''
