Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil will inaugurate a four-day International Indology Conference here on February 7. Kala Academy, Goa's centre for performing arts and culture, will host it. The theme is "Ancient Wisdom Brought to Modern Times - Pathway to Higher Consciousness," said Dr. Anjali Mohan Rao, conference convener. Dr. L. M. Singhvi, former Indian High Commissioner to the U.K and indologist, will be the guest of honour. Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane will preside. Kala Academy member-secretary Pandurang Phaldesai, will make a presentation on `A Cultural Atlas of Goa.'
The event is designed to explore the extent to which areas of "Indian wisdom" may be able to make a contribution to the development of a modern society.
