Star-studded function

KOCHI: Aluva Manappuram, home to the historic declaration of Kerala formation, has been readied for celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the Kerala Formation Day.

At a function to be organised on the Manappuram at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, 50 eminent personalities from different walks of life will light the lamp following which thousands will take the Kerala Formation pledge, said a press release from the District Information office here.

Among those expected to participate in the celebrations are cine actors Mammootty, Dilip, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Kavya Madhavan, Siddique and Lal; film directors Sibi Malayalil, K. G. George and Siddique; Kedamangalam Sadanandan, M. Leelavathi, Chemmanam Chacko, M. Achyuthan, Balachandran Chullikkad as well as former Chief Justice of Kerala High Court K.K. Usha, M.M. Pareed Pillai, K. Sukumaran, K. K. Narendran, K. P. Radhakrishna Menon, P. K. Shamsudeen, former long-jump star T.C. Yoahannan, former footballer T. A Jaffer, Vice-Chancellor of Cochin University of Science and Technology P. K. Abdul Aziz and Vice-Chancellor of Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady K. S. Radhakrishnan.

Cardinal Varkey Vithayathil, Archbishop Daniel Acharuparampil and Swami Amalesananda, head of the Adwaida Ashram, Kalady will be present.

A cultural procession will start from the Aluva Palace premises at 4 p. m.
