Tragic incident

The article `When water & air conspire to kill' (Oct. 31) made me shudder. The scenes of air-conditioned cars getting stuck in traffic jams, etc., are not uncommon in our cities with narrow and heavily crowded roads. The incident should come as a lesson to all, especially the youth. My deepest sympathies to the families of the three young engineers.

Harish Betha,
Mangalore, Karnataka

The death of the three software engineers due to carbon monoxide poisoning is tragic. It is time car manufacturers highlighted the perils of driving with the AC on during heavy rain so that such occurrences can be avoided.

S. Prabhakar,
Tiruchi, T.N.

Thanks a lot for the timely warning about the danger of CO poisoning in cars. The precautions and advice given in a box below the main article are a real help.

David Peniel,
Tiruchi.
