HYDERABAD: The State Cabinet on Tuesday gave the nod for a full-fledged film city to be developed by the Andhra Pradesh Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation over 316 acres of land near Visakhapatnam. The proposal was mooted last year by the then District Collectorand was forwarded by the corporation for Government approval. The Government land, spread over three villages of Bheemunipatnam mandal close to Visakhapatnam, across Kummaripalem, Kothavalasa and Annavaram, would be sold to the corporation at a price of Rs. 50 lakhs per acre. Information Minister Mohd. Ali Shabbir told reporters later that the corporation would develop the film city but did not explain whether it would be its owner or if it would remain a mere facilitator by allotting lands to individuals/ companies. The film city will house studios, laboratories, dubbing theatres and other facilities required for production and post-production work. It is aimed as a second technical facility for film-makers apart from existing infrastructure in and around Hyderabad.
