Vijayawada Mayor post for Mallika Begum?

VIJAYAWADA: Congress corporator Mallika Begum, a loyalist of local MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, is all set to become the city Mayor on Wednesday. She pipped M.V. Ratna Bindu of Vijayawada East MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna's camp to emerge as the party's nominee.

However, Congress sources played it safe saying that the name of the mayoral candidate would come in a sealed cover from the APCC.

Though the mayoral election was scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, District Collector Navin Mittal, who is the designated election officer, decided to defer it by a day.
