Mukundan takes charge at akademi

NEW CHAPTER: M. Mukundan, writer, taking over as President of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi in Thrissur on Tuesday.

Thrissur: M. Mukundan, newly appointed President of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, took charge on Monday.

Akademi secretary P.V. Krishnan Nair and the writers Ravunni, Ashokan Cheruvil, K.K. Hiranyan, George Onakkoor and T.N. Jayachandran were present.

Mukundan is the 19th president of the akademi. The 64-year-old writer hails from Mahe. He had served as coordinator with the culture wing of the French Embassy in India.

His works include Adityanum Radhayum Mattu Chilarum, Daivathinte Vikrithikal, Mayyazhippuzhayude Theerangalil, Kannadiyude Kazhcha, Kesavante Vilapangal, Seetha, Ee Lokam Athiloru Manushyan, Aavilayile Sooryodayam, Hridayavathiyaya Oru Penkutty, Ezhamathe Poovu, Nadiyum Thoniyum, Mukundante Kathakal and Enthanu Adhunikatha.

Ee Lokam Athiloru Manushyan (1973) and Hridayavathiyaya Oru Penkutty (1985) won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi awards.
