`Chetana' launched in Toopran

Programme meant to help people in naxal-affected areas


  • 324 grievance redress centres opened
  • Youngsters will be trained for jobs

    Toopran (Medak): DIG Nizamabad range Anjani Kumar launched `Chetana', a programme aimed at identifying the needs of the youth, widows, physically disabled and orphans in the naxal-affected areas under the Remote and Interior Area Development programme (RIAD) here on Tuesday.

    It will be initially implemented in 10 mandals under the Toopran police sub division.

    Addressing a gathering, the DIG said that youngsters would not migrate if proper infrastructure and job opportunities were created in the rural areas with the help of RIAD. He said that peace in naxal-affected areas was possible only through development.

    District Collector B. Venkatesam launched a decentralised grievance redress system through 324 centres in the districtto supplement `Chetana'. The Collector said that from now villagers need not travel to Sangareddy to submit petitions to him. Instead they could submit it in one of the centres. He said that each petitioner would receive a status letter within a fortnight.

    `Pay' the price!

    Mr. Venkatesam added that a penalty of Rs. 50 would be paid to the petitioner from the salary of the official concerned if he failed to reply within the stipulated time.

    The Collector asked the villagers to register their names and educational qualification at a police station covered under `Chetana.' A loan too could be arranged for starting a venture.

    He also sanctioned pensions to 34 physically challenged persons from Narsingi village of Chegunta mandal.Medak SP P.V. Sunil Kumar, OSD Manmohan and Toopran DSP Mohan Reddy were also present.
