CHENNAI: The junior National (boys and girls) judo championships will be held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium here from November 3 to 5. The categories are 14-17 and 17-20 years. As many as 360 boys and 360 girls from 32 States will take part in the tournament, consisting of five weight categories each in 14-17 and six weight categories each in 17-20 category. Defending boys' champion Punjab and girls' champion Manipur, including host Tamil Nadu, are participating. "Since this is the first time Tamil Nadu is hosting the junior championship, we would like to do it in a big way," informed W.I. Davaram, President, Tamil Nadu Judo Association, at a press conference here on Tuesday. Apoorva, Member Secretary, SDAT, will be the chief guest on the opening day, while Jagdish Tytler, President, National Judo Federation, will be the guest of honour during the closing ceremony.
