KOZHIKODE: The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA), Kozhikode, that has completed more than a century of existence will host the South West Regional Conference at the Nava Jyothis Renewal Centre here on November 4 and 5. Bishop of the Latin Catholic Diocese Joseph Kalathiparambil will inaugurate the conference. The former head of department of Sociology, University of Delhi, K. Saradamoni, will present an address on the topic `challenging traditional practices' at the conference on November 4. President, YWCA of India, Nirmala Fenn and secretary, Community Development, Sunitha Dash, will participate. Kozhikode YWCA president Annie Chally said the YWCA had a small beginning in Kozhikode in 1904 and was set up with a view to uplifting the status of women. The YWCA has taken up projects to educate women and other social service projects.
