NEW DELHI: Samir Suhag and Santiago de Estrada scored five goals apiece to lead their respective teams, Jindal Steel and Power-Sahgal Stud and Army Red, to contrasting wins in the league matches on the opening day of the Halcyon Baroda Cup 12-goal polo tournament here on Tuesday. Suhag was assisted by Lokendra Singh, Simran Shergill and Gaurav Sahgal as JSP-Sahgal Stud defeated National Defence Academy by eight goals to four-and-a-half at the Jaipur Polo Ground. Col. Anil Gupta (2) and Juan were the scorers for NDA, which started with one-and-a-half goals on handicap. Argentine rider, Estrada, was the toast of Army Red, which beat Sixt Polo 7-5. Lt. Col. Tarun Sirohi and Tunku Ismail Ibrahim were the other scorers for the Army team at the Army Equestrian Centre (AEC) ground. Sixt Polo gave a good fight through Basheer Ali (3) and Uday Kalaan (2). In another match at the AEC, Army Green and Royal Kashmir drew 9-9 to share the points. Angad Kalaan (7), Manupal Godara and Jai Shergill were the scorers for Royal Kashmir while Martin Ravina (7), Maj. Navjit Sandhu and Maj. Ravi Rathore scored for Army Green.
