Naxal leaders `shifted' to safety zone

Special Correspondent

Ramakrishna and Sudhakar have become too familiar, feel Maoists

VISAKHAPATNAM : Two top leaders of the banned CPI (Maoist) — Ramakrishna and Sudhakar have been sent to a safety zone by the central committee of the party, according to information available here.

Akkiraju Haragopal alias Ramakrishna and Tentu Venkatachalam alias Sudhakar have become quite familiar after they participated in the peace talks with the Government in the past.

This also made them vulnerable, the party felt and wanted both of them to be shifted to a safe zone. Both are also reportedly sick. The central committee of CPI (Maoist) wanted both the leaders to move to a safe zone, as it did not want to meet the fate of top-level leaders who were allegedly killed after being captured. To where the two have been moved is not known.

Narrow escapes

Sudhakar had escaped twice very narrowly from the police in the recent past, in Vizianagaram district a few months ago and during this month in the agency area of the district while Ramakrishna was surrounded in the Nallamala forest area several moths ago and could escape only after the civil rights associations exerted pressure on the State Government to allow safe passage for Ramakrishna.
