Heavy rain in hill tracts

Staff Reporter

PATHANAMTHITTA: Heavy rain continued to lash the eastern hill tracts of Pathanamthitta district on Tuesday.

The catchment areas of the Sabarigiri hydroelectric project in the forests received heavy rain in the past 24 hours, leading to increase in inflow into the reservoirs of Kakki, Anathode and Kochu Pampa, according to the Kerala State Electricity Board sources.

The water level in the Kakki-Anathode twin reservoirs was 978.12 metres on Tuesday morning. KSEB sources at Moozhiyar said the three reservoirs of the Sabarigiri project presently hold water to generate not less than 642 million units of power. The inflow to the Moozhiyar dam Kakkad hydel project too was on the rise on Tuesday.
