Hooda announces awards for panchayats

  • Panches and sarpanches asked to realise the dreams of the late Prime Minister
  • `Arrears of power bills worth Rs.225 crore relating to Bhiwani district has been waived'

    CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday announced that a State-level award of Rs.20 lakhs would be given to the panchayat which fulfils three criteria laid down by the Government concerning development of the village. Similarly, the second and third awards would be of Rs.15 lakhs and Rs.10 lakhs respectively.

    Addressing the panches, sarpanches, presidents of zila parishads and panchayat samitis and members of the panchayat samitis and zila parishads of Bhiwani district at his residence here, Mr. Hooda said these criteria would include individual toilet in every house, payment of full electricity bills of all the residents and proper cleanliness in the village. Panchayats fulfilling these criteria would also be eligible for the district-level awards, he added.

    While payingtributes to Indira Gandhi on her 22nd death anniversary, he recalled that Haryana was carved out by her and she had provided liberal financial assistance for its development. He asked the panches and sarpanches to take a pledge to realise the dreams of the late Prime Minister.

    Competition

    Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh said that arrears of power bills worth Rs.225 crore relating to Bhiwani district had been waived.

    A congenial environment had been created and there was a competition between industrialists for setting up units in the State. Bhiwani MLA Shiv Shankar Bhardwaj, Dadri MLA Nripender Singh Sangwan, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Panchayat and Development Raj Kumar, Director, Panchayat and Development Department Shiv Raman Gaur and Deputy Commissioner of Bhiwani Mahender Kumar were among those present.
