MAHABUBNAGAR: The Municipal Council that met here on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution to demolish all apartments constructed without obtaining permission from the municipality. Initiating a discussion on the issue, Telugu Desam Floor Leader Krishna Mohan said that an apartment constructed in Rajendra Nagar was unauthorised, as its builder B.S.N. Reddy had not obtained permission from the municipality. Congress councillors -- Amarendar, Gopal Yadav and Sudhakar Reddy -- said that it was not proper to point out a single apartment and suggest that action should be initiated with regards to all unauthorised apartments. BJP floor leader N. Rajeshwar Reddy said that there were two unauthorised apartments in the Padmavathi Colony. He alleged that illegal structures were being constructed in the town with the connivance of Town Planning officials.
Pension
Mr. Rajeshwar Reddy also alleged that barring the Chairperson, all members of the council got scant regard from municipal officials and staff members. TDP Floor Leader Krishna Mohan charged officials with pocketing the amount sanctioned under old age and widow pension in wards selected under Indiramma Scheme. Chairperson Ubedullah Kotwal, who presided over the council meeting, approved the proposal made by Congress member Yusuf to waive the penalty on property tax and give two months time to pay the tax.
