MYSORE: The Department of Food and Civil Supplies has sought the public's cooperation in clamping down on those using LPG cylinders to run vehicles. A release from the Deputy Director of Food and Civil Supplies said those having specific information about the use of LPG cylinders in vehicles, adulteration of petroleum products, illegal sale of kerosene and use of domestic cylinders for commercial purposes can inform the department following which stringent action will be taken against the offenders.
Storage
Stating that it was the final warning to offenders, the release said that storing, selling and use of adulterated petrol, diesel and kerosene was a crime and the use of domestic or commercial cylinders in vehicles was prohibited. Quoting the Explosives Act, the release said the stocking and selling of petroleum products in roadside petty shops was prohibited . It said helping vehicle owners use LPG cylinders in vehicles was also a crime.
