Police permitted to retrieve computers of Pak nationals

Special Correspondent

MYSORE: The Mysore police, investigating the case pertaining to two Pakistani nationals suspected to be members of the banned Al Badr outfit and who were arrested here on Friday, have secured the court's permission to retrieve information from the computers and laptops of the accused.

Mohammad Fahad and Mohammad Ali Hussain were arrested after a shoot out on Friday and the police seized laptops, computers and CDs apart from an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and chemicals used in the manufacture of explosives.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have ascertained that Hussain was wanted in connection with the killing of 19 civilians including three policemen and was described as the organisation's divisional commander of Srinagar.

Data

The police got permission from the court to open the computers and will now engage the services of professionals and experts to help retrieve data that may be encoded.

Officials are optimistic that they can retrieve emails sent by Fahad, emails received from his organisation members, phone numbers and other contact details of the organisation.

The police also hope to gain access to various web addresses surfed by the duo and phone numbers used in accessing the Internet.

Interrogation

A police team from Jammu and Kashmir is expected to come to Mysore in shortly and quiz the two suspected militants one of whom is wanted in that State.

Another police team from the city which had left for Chennai is expected to return on Wednesday. Commissioner of Police Praveen Sood said Fahad had secured a driving licence from that city.
