HYDERABAD: The Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) and Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Hague, are jointly organising a three-day symposium on `India's development: even or uneven?' from Wednesday here. Being organised as part of the Indo-Dutch programme on Alternative in Development (IDPAD), the symposium would discuss development, particularly its disparate reality in the light of the changing perceptions on development theory, CESS Director S. Mahendra Dev told reporters here on Tuesday. There would be three keynote addresses by eminent economists, including Kaushik Basu of the Cornell University, Abhijit Sen, Planning Commission member, and Jan Breman of the University of Amsterdam. The symposium would have six panel discussions on a range of subjects like `displacement, conflict and crisis, the flipside of globalisation', `gender and generation as divisions in India's development' and `India's development experience'.
