Nabbed for robbery, carjacking

NEW DELHI: Four persons allegedly involved in cases of robbery, carjacking and misappropriation were arrested following a brief encounter with the Special Cell of the Delhi police on Chhawla Camp Road in South-West Delhi on Monday. The police claimed to have seized a stolen truck from their possession. A team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravi Shankar received a tip-off that a gangster, Gulab Singh, and his accomplices would go towards Alwar in Rajasthan via Chhawla Camp Road in a truck. It laid a trap and intercepted the vehicle. Following a brief exchange of fire, the police overpowered the four occupants of the vehicle.

They were identified as Gulab Singh, Sombir Sangwan, Khajan Singh and Naresh.

Arrested for supplying controlled drug

NEW DELHI: Two persons have been arrested by the Narcotics Branch of the police from Mukarba Chowk in North-West Delhi on charges of illegally supplying Norphine ampules, a controlled drug. The police claim to have recovered 7,700 ampules of Norphine from their possession.

According to the police, the Narcotics Branch received a tip-off that Dhan Pal, a resident of neighbouring Faridabad in Haryana who supplied medicines at Bhagirath Place, was engaged in illegal supply of Norphine. A trap was laid and the accused and his accomplice, Vipul Garg, were arrested near Mukarba Chowk on Monday.

The police said Vipul runs a medicine shop at Bhagirath Palace and was into the business of supplying Norphine injections for the past six years. During interrogation, Dhan Pal allegedly disclosed that he was engaged in the trade for the past 12 years. Efforts are on to identify their clients.

Held with fake notes

NEW DELHI: Two young men who allegedly printed and supplied counterfeit currency notes have been arrested from Kamla Market in Central Delhi. The police claim to have recovered fake notes worth Rs. 1 lakh from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Tajender Singh and Mukesh. According to the police, the duo used to print notes of 100-rupee denomination using a computer, a scanner and a printer, apart from other raw material. During interrogation, Mukesh allegedly disclosed that he was involved in at least 10 cases of theft and auto-lifting. His father is a "sewadar" in a gurdwara.

Arrested for forgery

NEW DELHI: A young man who allegedly cheated his employer of Rs.2 lakh by forging a cheque has been arrested by the North Delhi police.

On Monday, the police received a complaint from Anil Kakkar alleging that someone had fraudulently withdrawn Rs.2 lakh from his bank account using a forged cheque. According to the police, investigations revealed that Mr. Kakkar's 19-year-old employee Niranjan had withdrawn the amount.

Subsequently, he was arrested and a case of forgery registered against him at the Sabzi Mandi police station. The police claim to have recovered Rs. 1.98 lakhs in cash from his Sabzi Mandi residence.
