ANANTAPUR: Spiritual atmosphere was on the high in the district headquarters town of Anantapur on Tuesday and Wednesday as two spiritual leaders were in the town to deliver discourses. Bangalore-based Ravi Shankar Guruji of The Art of Living and Mysore-based Ganapathi Sachidananda Swamy of Datta Peetham spoke on bare facts and problems of life and the spiritual way through which happiness could be attained. In a discourse at his ashram in Bommeparthi near here on Wednesday, Ganapathi Sachidananda Swamy told his devotees to follow the path of righteousness to have happiness in life. He also told them to take joy and sorrow in life in their stride. Speaking to mediapersons later, he blamed the policies of Governments resulting in farmers' suicides. "They are ending themselves in utter distress due to Government policies," the seer felt.
The distress deaths could be prevented provided the Government, social activists and spiritual leaders played their roles appropriately. While the Government was failing to infuse confidence by assisting them in required manner, the social activists and spiritual leaders were unable to extend moral support to them.
Industrialists feared setting up ventures in Rayalaseema, particularly due to factionalism and extremism, Ravi Shankar Guruji said in his discourse here on Tuesday night. He asked people to shed such an image first to invite peace to the region and the peace would itself bring prosperity. Moral transformation through spiritual way would help restore peace in the region, he noted.
He mentioned that spiritual teachings had brought down farmers' suicides in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra and Waynad in Kerala.
