`State will maintain pace in IT sector'

Staff Correspondent

BIJAPUR: Water Resources Minister K.S. Eshwarappa on Wednesday called for optimum utilisation of natural resources to make Karnataka a frontline State.

He was speaking after unfurling national and Kannada flags on the occasion of 50th Kannada Rajyotsava Day celebrations in the District Stadium here.

Referring to the growth of information technology, he said the State would do everything to maintain its stride.

The coalition Government was also giving emphasis to other sectors such as agriculture, irrigation and rural industries.

Mr. Eshwarappa felicitated some senior citizens, who contributed to the unification of Kannada-speaking regions, and achievers in other fields on the occasion. A cultural programme by schoolchildren followed. Local MLA Appasaheb Pattanashetti, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mohsin, and municipal president Abdul Razak Loni participated.
