GULBARGA: The Rajyotsava Day celebrations in Gulbarga city on Wednesday was capped with an impressive procession taken out by thousands of schoolchildren and tableaux depicting development activities taken up by the Government. Agriculture Marketing Minister Sharanabasappa Darshanapur who inaugurated the celebrations at the Nagreshwar School Grounds in the city, also flagged off the procession of the schoolchildren and tableaux. Enthusiastic children covered more than three km from the Nagreshwar School Grounds to the Deputy Commissioner's office shouting slogans.

The highlight of the procession was the different themes adopted for the tableaux. Through these, the children projected the need for communal amity, importance of saving water, power and literacy programmes. The Minister, after flagging off the procession, walked along with the children for some distance along with senior officials and Animal Husbandry Minister Revu Naik. Mr. Darshanapur and Mr. Revu Naik also inaugurated the three-day long Nada Habba organised by the Kannada Sahitya Parishat to highlight the rich cultural heritage of the district. Special lectures have been organised on the contribution of Gulbarga to the enrichment of Kannada and its culture. The Ministers also inaugurated a Golden Jubilee Garden being developed in the Kannada Sahitya Parishat complex with the assistance of the Gulbarga Development Authority.
