KOLLAM: Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) president K. Muraleedharan, and six other leaders of his party appeared before the Kollam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court-11 seeking bail in connection with a case registered by the Shakthikulangara police on January 4 this year. The case pertained to allegedly causing traffic interruption at Kavanad Junction here at a time when the then Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was passing that way. At that time Mr. Muraleedharan was leading the `Nava Kerala Yatra.' Judge of the Magistrate Court K.G. Sanal Kumar granted bail to all the seven. He then posted the case for May 4, 2007. The other DIC(K) leaders who sought bail along with Mr. Muraleedharan are, K. Karunakaran Pillai, Chidara Madhu, Koivila Ramachandran, Anzar Rahim, Omanakuttan Pillai and Yesudasan. Talking to presspersons on coming out of the court after getting the bail, Mr. Muraleedharan said this was a clear instance of political vendetta on the part of Mr. Chandy against him. He said that he would dare it legally. Mr. Muraleedharan said majority of the DIC(K) activists in the district were still with the party. He said the strength of his party would be proved on November 12 during the merger with the Nationalist Congress Party.
