KURNOOL: Police resolved the mystery behind the sensational R. Pampalli twin murder case and arrested five persons on Wednesday. Two girl-child workers D. Yasoda and D. Syamala were murdered on October 6 at R. Pampalli in Uyyalawada mandal. Superintendent of Police B. Malla Reddy told reporters here that the accused were none other than the compatriots of the two victims and all of them hailed from Gudur near Kurnool. They had migrated to R. Pampalli to work in seed cotton fields. A total of 2,500 migrants lived in the village. The accused were identified as H. Chinna Salu (24), Harijana Hanumanthu (22), H. Suresh (19), Boya Maddileti (20) and H. Giddaiah (19). The gang raped one of the girls but murdered both. Narrating the incident as confessed by the accused, the SP said 15 officers and 30 constables led by Deputy SP Syed Vali worked for 15 days to unravel the mystery. They had kept Chinna Salu under observation as he had led them to the place of dead bodies first. The accused will face trial under sections 302 and 376 while one of them would attract the provisions of SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention Act).
