HYDERABAD : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has announced an exclusive grid for natural gas for the benefit of industry in the State. The grid would also ensure availability of cheap gas for domestic consumption besides paving way for gas-based industries to come up in plenty, Dr. Reddy said in his address at the golden jubilee celebrations of the State's formation here on Wednesday. He reviewed a parade by various contingents of the State police on the occasion. Discussing the various developmental programmes, Dr. Reddy said one more university would be set up in Telangana next academic year. This would be in addition to the university at Nizamabad in the region that started functioning this year. Universities at Rajahmundry and Kadapa in the other two regions have also come up.
JNTU colleges
Expressing the resolve of the State Government to enhance opportunities in higher education, Dr. Reddy said constituent colleges of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) would be set up in Karimnagar and Vizianagaram districts. Dr. Reddy said it was decided to extend computer education offered by the Urdu Academy to madrasas teaching Arabic. This would enable students in madrasas to update their knowledge in Arabic, Urdu and English with computer skills. On the power front, he said the Government was forced to buy power from other States.
