10 new battalions for CRPF
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
The Government has sanctioned 10 new battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) during 2006-07 to help the paramilitary force handle internal security and counter insurgency duties in a better way.
The new battalions will also help in relieving the BSF from counter insurgency role, an official release said. The CRPF would start recruitment in January for filling over 16,000 constable level vacancies in the new battalions and normal annual vacancies.
The recruitment will be done on an all-India basis in accordance with the policy of the Government which stipulates 60 per cent recruitment of constables from States and Union Territories and 40 per cent from the areas affected by extremism.
