HYDERABAD: The bandh called by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to express resentment against State formation day celebrations evoked partial response in Telangana districts on Wednesday. Barring Khammam town where police lathicharged TRS activists as they forced closure of shops, the bandh passed off peacefully. Three buses were damaged in stone-pelting and shops forcibly closed by TRS protestors in Khammam. Andhra Pradesh Express was stopped for some time by TRS workers at Secunderabad Railway Station. The Rajadhani Express too was detained at the Kazipet railway station in Warangal and TRS MLA G. Vijayarama Rao was among those arrested. Police also took into custody some other TRS activists when they tried to obstruct the official celebrations in Warangal town.
KCR happy
TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed happiness that the bandh was spontaneous and total. It reflected people's desire for separate Telangana. Reports from districts said the bandh was total in Karimnagar where private educational institutions even declared a holiday. Party MLAs from the district E. Rajender and V. Laxmikantha Rao tried to prevent movement of buses at the bus station complex in the district headquarters town.
